Michelle Human

ASSOCIATE
Michelle represents clients in all aspects of family law, including divorce, domestic violence, child custody and visitation, and support.

Michelle graduated with honors from the University of California Hastings. She served as an editor of the Hastings Law Journal and received the CALI award for excellence in child law, a distinction for Outstanding Pro Bono Achievement, and the Dean’s Recognition for Professional Development. During law school, Michelle clerked at the Children’s Law Center of California and J. Caballero Abogados y Asesores, a top law firm in Spain. Michelle also studied abroad at Leiden University Law School, where she conducted research in the top-ranked program for international child and domestic violence law in Europe.

Prior to joining DeLacey, Riebel & Shindell, Michelle worked as a judicial clerk and research attorney for the family law judges at the San Mateo Superior Court.  She also worked with the United Nations and a coalition of non-governmental organizations, including the African Centre for Peace and the Mukwege Foundation, on uncovering cases of wartime sexual violence.

Prior to law school, Michelle was a hard news journalist that covered emotional stories and earned a national recognition as an up-and-coming young Journalist for her writing.  Inspired to use her story-telling skills to make a more tangible difference in people’s lives, Michelle attended law school to share and advocate for her client’s positions and counsel them through difficult and often emotional times.
